And now it's time to take one of Geo's quotes out of context and make an amusing sound bite.

Hey George. Of all your personality traits, your preoccupation with your weight and your appearance is the one to which I relate most strongly. I'm a compulsive overeater. I'm about your age, and I spent most of my life struggling with my weight. I was morbidly obese until the age of 17, at which point I lost 115 pounds. Then I spent 23 years on the proverbial weight roller coaster. Your preoccupation with your body and how others see it reminds me very much of myself during that period. There was never a moment when I wasn't ashamed of my body and worrying about what people thought of me.

About two and a half years ago I got help for my eating disorder. I've been at my ideal weight for about two years now, yet I'm still very preoccupied with my body. It's still difficult for me to accept that when people look at me, they see a fit person and not the fat person I used to be. Now that I have the body I've always wanted, it's an ongoing challenge to work with the narcissism and self-loathing vying for ascendency in my head, and find a third way. It's a rare moment when I can be proud of my accomplishments without comparing myself either favorably or unfavorably to others, and without pining for attention, but it does happen.

I don't have much of a point here except to say that I know how you feel. It all sounds exceedingly familiar.
