You really ought to check out more of Harry Chapin's work. I especially recommend the albums Sniper and Other Love Songs (you need to overlook the relatively poor production quality of the album but the music is something else, especially the two epic songs, A Better Place to Be and Sniper) and Danceband on the Titanic.

His live albums -- Greatest Stories Live, Legends of the Lost and Found, and the posthumously released Bottom Line Encore album demonstrate that he really was an impressive live performer.
